One se encuentra en la lista de temas del 4º disco de Metallica '...And Justice for All' del año 1988. El grupo estaba formado en ese momento por James Hetfield (Voz y Guitarra Ritmica), Kirk Hammet (1ª Guitarra) Jason Newsted (Bajo), y Lars Ulrich (Bateria)
El tema, uno de los historicos del Trash Metal, dura 7:21 minutos y fue compuesta por Ulrich y Hetfield, los fundadores del grupo, ademas de los unicos que permanecen en él desde su comienzo en 1981, hasta el dia de hoy. One trata sobre un hombre que sufre la explosión de una mina mientras está luchando en la guerra y perdiendo las extremidades, y dejandole incapaz para hablar, escuchar o ver. En esa situación, el hombre tan solo quiere morir.
La canción empieza con el sonido de disparos de guerra durante los primeros segundos, y posteriormente, llega una introduccion con guitarra, bateria y bajo hasta la entrada de Hetfield, sobre los 2 minutos de cancion
Con este tema, Metallica ganó un Grammy.
Como dato curioso, para esta canción se realizó el que fue el primer video de la banda, dirigido por Bill Papa y Michael Salomon, siendo filmado en blanco y negro y basado en la pelicula 'Johnny Got His Gun', de Dalton Trumbo
